It
was earlier reported that the Tamil remake of Malayalam blockbuster
movie, Drishyam, is likely to have Kamal Haasan, Vikram or Sharath Kumar
in the lead. And now, after much debates and discussions, Jeethu Joseph
has finally found the lead star for his Tamil directorial debut – Kamal
Haasan!
The actor, who will reprise Mohanlal’s role in the remake, saw the movie and was apparently impressed by the script. “Kamal Haasan finally gave the nod to do the movie. The primary round of discussions is over and he has signed on the dotted line,” confirms Jeethu. Since the story will unfold in a rural area in Tamil Nadu, Jeethu says it will be tweaked to appeal to the audience there. “Since Kamal is a writer, he has promised to help me in bringing about a few changes in the script. Both of us will sit together and prepare the final script,” adds the director.
Interestingly, superstar Rajinikanth too was initially approached to play Mohanlal’s character in the Tamil version. “Rajini sir enjoyed the movie thoroughly. Though he was interested to take up the role, he had doubts regarding a few scenes, and how they would appeal to his fans in Tamil Nadu,” says the Memories director.
The rest of the cast, including the lead actress, is yet to be confirmed. “We are currently scouting for rural locales in Tamil Nadu for the shoot, which will kick-start in June,” says Jeethu.
