Oscar-winning music composer A R Rahman gets a street named after him in Markham, Ontario, Canada and the board having the street's name reads 'Allah-Rakha Rahman st'. A delighted Rahman posted a picture of him holding the board and tweeted "Welcome to my street! (In Markham, ON, Canada)."
In 2009, Rahman was placed in Times’ list of ‘World's Most Influential People’. He was also named one of 'Tomorrow's World Music Icons' in August 2011 by UK based World Music magazine Song Lines.
He has been awarded and recognised time and again for his music prowess and has two Academy Awards, two Grammy Awards, a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe, four National Film Awards, 15 Filmfare Awards and 13 Filmfare Awards South under his belt.
He is the name behind some of Bollywood’s all time favourite tracks from films like Jodhaa Akbar, Slumdog Millionaire, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, Dil Se, Rang De Basanti, Rockstar and Bombay.
