It was recently reveales that the last leg of filming of for the movie was taking place in San Francisco and Arnold Schwarzenegger, who is reprising his role as the iconic cyborg, announced the official title while announcing it was a wrap on August 6.The actor captioned the image with thank you note to the director, producers and crew of the movie.
"Hasta la vista, baby. I want to thank the cast and crew of @TerminatorGenisys for a fantastic shoot. It was challenging, it was fun, and it was rewarding. From our director to the producers, from the camera team to catering, from visual effects to hair and makeup - we couldn't have done it without you. I can't wait to see our finished project and I know we'll remind the fans why they fell in love with the Terminator. On July 1, 2015, I'll be back."
The film was being called Terminator: Genesis before, so the small change in spelling to Genisys won't be tough for fans to latch on to.
The movie is being directed by Alan Taylor and also stars Jai Courtney, who will be playing Kyle Reese, and Emilia Clarke will play Sarah Connor. Sandrine Holt (House of Cards) will be playing Detective Cheung, who will "arrest Kyle and Sarah when they arrive in 2017."
Terminator 5 is scheduled to release in July 2015.
