Cinematographer-turned director
Ravi K Chandran and his crew are just back in the city after completing
a spectacular shoot in Morocco with Jiiva and Thulasi for Yaan.
Says the
director, “Our cinematographer injured his leg on the very first day of
his shoot and had to return to India. So, I had to handle the camera,
in addition to performing my directorial duties. We had taken only
limited people on board for this schedule. So, Jiiva stepped in and
worked as an associate director during the shoot. He assisted us in
tasks like coordinating actors, explaining dialogues to the co-artists,
following location changes and much more.”
The director reveals that
Jiiva, too, had a leg injury, but managed to shoot lengthy action
sequences for the film. He adds, “The city of Morocco will be like a
character in the film and not just a backdrop. We shot in the streets of
the city and canned a crucial chase sequence. In this 20-day schedule,
Jiiva and Thulasi lost close to five kilos running across Morocco,
shooting for this sequence!”
