After Kadal, there were speculations in the industry about what Mani Ratnam's next project would be. Now, a source in the know tells us that the ace director has decided to do a pucca action entertainer, and is in talks with Prince Mahesh Babu to play the lead. The proposed project will be a Tamil-Telugu bilingual, and is likely to go on floors in a couple of months. The source says, "Mani Ratnam had decided to take his time to firm up his next. He was, in fact, working on three scripts and had kept the cards close to his heart. This had given rise to speculations that he was reviving Lajjo in Bollywood and that he was doing a Tamil-Malayalam bilingual with Fahadh. But now, he has decided to do an action entertainer. Mahesh Babu has been approached for this Tamil-Telugu bilingual, which will be made on a large scale."
Former actress and Mahesh Babu's wife, Namrata Shirodkar, tells us, "Yes, we are in talks, but nothing has been confirmed yet."
Interestingly, Mani Ratnam and Mahesh were set to team up for the filmi adaptation of Ponniyin Selvan a couple of years ago. The actor had even gone on record to say, "My dream is coming true finally. I will be working in a Mani Ratnam film." While the period drama has reportedly been put on hold, looks like it's going to be an action fare for these two.
