She
debuted in tinseltown with Mani Ratnam’s Iruvar way back in 1997. And
now, if all goes well, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan may return to Kollywood
after her long hiatus from films post motherhood.
Yes, the buzz in the
industry is that the actress has been approached by Mani’s team to star
in his Tamil-Telugu bilingual, which is also likely to have Mahesh Babu,
Nagarjuna and Fahadh Faasil in the cast.
A source says, “Mani Ratnam has almost completed the scripting process and has approached Mahesh Babu and Nagarjuna. He wants to finalise his leading lady as well so that the shoot can begin soon. His team has gotten in touch with Aishwarya Rai, with whom he has worked in Iruvar and Raavanan before.”
“Mani Ratnam shares a fabulous equation with Abhishek
and Ash. But this time he’s planning to direct a film which has a very
strong female protagonist’s character. Mani feels there is little room
for Abhishek in his next.”
The source further added: “Aishwarya was very clear about her
priorities after she became a mother. She gave a hundred of her time and
concentration to her daughter Aaradhya for two years. Now that Aaradhya
is ready for play school, Aishwarya can start thinking of seriously
coming back to acting.”
If the project comes
through, this will be Aishwarya’s first film after the birth of her
child. Interestingly, she was supposed to perform for a special number
in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela.
